Care guide for your beannie hat
Our beauty tips for your beanie hat
Your Le Beau Jean beanie hat is made with a blend of 50% merino wool and 50% acrylic. To care for your hat, you must take these two components into consideration. And since wool is more sensitive than acrylic, it is the characteristics of the wool that are essential.
Take advantage of the antibacterial properties of merino wool
Merino wool is naturally antibacterial. It does not retain odors, especially those from sweat. You therefore do not need to wash it as frequently as other materials such as cotton or polyester. To freshen up your hat, simply air it for a few hours on a balcony or near an open window.
Prefer dry cleaning
To prolong the life of your beanie hat, we recommend dry cleaning. If you prefer the washing machine, use the "wool wash at 30 degrees" program. However, avoid washing it too often. Specific items, such as merino wool sweaters, can be machine washed, but only occasionally. Dry cleaning is gentler on the fibers.
Temperature and spin
Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your washing machine for the benefit of your beanie hat:
- Set your washing machine drum speed to 500 or 600 revolutions per minute maximum to avoid damaging the fibers.
- Fill the drum to 50% maximum to leave enough space for the wool.
- Use a detergent specially designed for wool and avoid fabric softener (unless it is specific to wool).
- Do not mix wool with other materials (cotton, polyester) to avoid the risk of unraveling.
- Wash the hat inside out to avoid friction on the merino wool.

Drying
Finally, the last step, drying is very simple:
- After washing, wring out the beanie hat at a minimum.
- Spread it out on a flat, non-hot surface to dry.
- Avoid tumble drying, as excessive heat can damage the fibers.
By following these tips, you will preserve the quality and softness of your merino wool beanie hat for a long time. Enjoy this exceptional fiber!
