50 shades of blue
The concept of color in jeans corresponds to the washing done on the denim fabric , once the pants are made, which fades the indigo:
- Raw corresponds to a practically raw canvas, therefore dark.
- Dark Used or dark blue is slightly lighter than raw, already patinated but still dark.
- Mid Blue or light blue is the lightest and most aged color.
- Black is raw denim overdyed black.
As for Selvedge, it's not a color or a wash, but a type of denim weave. Selvedge is very (very) frequently offered in raw form. In fact, for denim purists, the notion of color isn't even considered. It's a raw selvedge, possibly rinsed, and nothing else!
Since we're open to the world, here are our recommendations for choosing your jeans wash, depending on the combination, season, situation or reason!

The color of jeans is a matter of association
A great pair of jeans is a stylish piece that adds to a look, your look. It will be a central element of your appearance and can, however, take on a very different look depending on the top you decide to pair it with.
The traditional complement to jeans, seen and reviewed, is the t-shirt, often white. The lighter the t-shirt, the lighter the shade of the jeans should be, so Mid Blue / light blue is the chosen one. With a polo shirt, the outfit takes on a more dressed-up look, far from being strict however, and Dark Used / dark blue is ideal. Raw / raw is the natural complement to the shirt, whether it's a lumberjack or a tailored suit. Finally, these ladies have the little black dress as an essential element of the feminine wardrobe. Well, you will have Black / black jeans in yours, to wear with any top you like!
The color of jeans is a matter of season
Ah! Vivaldi's four seasons, the poems of Charles Cros, the nursery rhymes of our childhood... we are lulled by the changing weather throughout the year and the seasons. And of course, we take out of our wardrobes outfits adapted to the temperatures but also to the atmosphere of these seasons.
In spring, the beautiful days return, the colors are reborn in nature, the Mid Blue is suitable, and will still be in summer. Autumn is the time of the return to school, the return to work, things get serious again, the Raw are out. Then in winter the Black comes to align with the mood of the moment, although different from traditional indigos, its use can be extended to all seasons. The Dark Used comes out of the drawers with the first frosts and is worn until the return of summer.
The color of jeans is a matter of situation
For all outdoor events, Mid Blue blends naturally into the landscape. Like Dark Used, it can be an option for more “casual” moments. Both work well in casual occasions. At work, especially in an office environment, darker shades are welcome: Dark Used and Raw work wonders. All these beautiful days end with outings, for example restaurant, cinema or evening with friends. It's time to pull out a Raw or a Black in style!
The color of jeans is a matter of reason
You all know that black dresses and slims the silhouette. Isn't that right, ladies? So, if you're looking to visually slim your figure, opt for Raw jeans or Black jeans.
Dark Used elongates the silhouette, with more clear vertical lines, perfect for men with muscular legs. After many washes, Raw will become closer to Dark Used, so its longevity is an additional advantage for you.
Conversely, the clarity of Mid Blue makes it more visible, more vibrant. By taking up more space in the eyes of the audience, amazed by your beautiful jeans, it adds volume to your person. It's therefore ideal for very slim men as well as for anyone who wants to be noticed.
We hope all these tips will help you make your choice. And if not, there are two options: the first is to order all the colors you like because choosing means giving up. And you don't give up so easily. The second option is to let yourself be guided by our color quiz:
